American Silver Eagle (1986-Date)

1 dollar american silver eagle 1oz

American Silver Eagles are the nation’s official silver bullion coins. The US Mint launched it in 1986 after the 1985 Liberty Coin Act. The one-troy-ounce coin has a $1 face value and contains 99.9% pure silver. The U.S. Mint certifies its composition, weight, and purity, and the government backs its worth. The US Mint also prepared a proof and uncirculated variant for collectors. The bullion form is also “Uncirculated” or “Never circulated.” Only approved wholesalers sell bullion coins, not the US Mint. Uncirculated US Mint coins contain a mint mark, while bullion coins don’t. Philadelphia, San Francisco, and West Point create Silver Eagles.

American Silver Eagle Value

The spot price of the metal, as well as the weight of the coin, are both essential pieces of information. However, the value of an American silver eagle bullion coin is going to be determined in the end by the premium price. This premium price for silver eagles was issued by the U.s. Mint for the particular year is determined by the Mint. The premium price of back-dated coins, which include dates that are no longer being struck, is determined by the market for that specific year, in addition to the mintage data for that exact year. The value as well as worth of a silver eagle coin is determined by each of these several elements.

How To Invest In American Silver Eagle Coins

Coin collectors and bullion speculators alike have been captivated by the American Silver Eagle since its inception. Because they are made of silver and have a face value of one dollar, these coins are sometimes referred to as the current version of Silver Dollars. The whole series may be amassed by buying 1 coin for each day of the year and adding to it when new issues are released. A small percentage of coin collectors opt to have their collections professionally graded by a third party. Typically, considerable premiums are charged over the intrinsic value of the highest-graded coins.

Coin enthusiasts may now get their hands on several variants of the coin from the United States Mint. Proof Silver Eagles have been manufactured and sold by the Mint since 1986. The dies used to make these coins provide crisp details, and mirror-like surfaces, including frosted design elements. The US Mint also created a rare uncirculated variant, struck on specially polished blanks and bearing the “W” mint mark, from 2006 until the present. The program’s tenth, twentieth, and twenty-fifth anniversaries all saw commemorative coins released.

Proof and uncirculated coins bearing an infused 30th-anniversary mark were released in 2016 to commemorate the program’s 30th anniversary.

Silver Eagle Design

In contrast to the design of the Chinese Silver Panda, which is an updated year, the obverse (front) and reverse (back) of each Silver Eagle coin have the same image, with the only difference being the inclusion of the year on which the piece was issued. The Walking Liberty Half Dollar set was issued from 1916 to 1947 and has a design of Lady Liberty walking on the face of the coin. This design was quite popular during that period.

A lovely Lady Liberty is shown making her way across the horizon while the sun shines brightly. On the reverse is an eagle and shield with 13 stars representing the United States. The inscription “1 oz fine silver one dollar” can be seen at the bottom of the coin, while “USA” can be found at the top of the reverse side of the coin. On the face of the coin, the date is brought up to date on an annual basis.

Increasing Demand for American Silver Eagles

In recent years, there has been a marked increase in the amount of interest shown in silver bullion coins. The enormous rise in demand for actual precious metals that occurred in the second half of 2008 may be directly attributed to the economic instability that was experienced during that time. Because of the unexpectedly large demand for bullion coins, the United States Mint had trouble keeping up with the volume of orders. When the available inventory of bullion coins was depleted, the Mint was required on many occasions to temporarily halt the sale of bullion coins. In addition, the Mint has frequently resorted to enforcing an allocation scheme, which rationed available supply among approved customers. This practice has been done on many occasions.

Despite the bans and restrictions, yearly sales of silver bullion coins reached repeated all-time highs from 2008 to 2011. This trend continued in 2012. When annual sales topped 47,000,000 in 2013, 2014, & 2015, respectively, new records were set for each of those years. There have been repercussions for collectors as a result of the increased demand for bullion coins. The United States Mint decided to use all of the incoming supply of silver blanks for the manufacturing of bullion coins in 2009. This decision led to the cancellation of the extremely popular collector-proof or uncirculated versions of Silver Eagle.
